Dev log 01: where the game is at
I play airline games, and on a phone most of them go the same way. The first hour is fun. Then you hit a wall, and the way over it is a gem pack, an ad, or coming back in 8 hours. The money underneath is thin, and after a while you're just tapping collect.
So I'm making the one I wanted to play. Cleared for Profit is a single-player airline business sim for iPhone and iPad. It plays offline, has no ads and no timers, and there is one way to pay: free to start, one unlock for the full game.
In the game now
- About 4,000 real airports. You name a fictional airline, pick a home hub and start opening routes.
- Connecting passengers. A hub works like a hub: people change planes at your base, and that fills flights you couldn't fill point to point.
- Leasing and buying. Lease for a deposit and a daily rate, or buy with money down and a loan.
- Finance with lending limits. Your first year has a borrowing cap, so you can't buy 12 widebodies on day one. The Finance screen shows profit per day and which routes make or lose the money.
- A route finder that ranks where to fly next from any airport.
- Easy and Realistic modes. Easy softens rivals and seasons. Realistic runs them at full strength.
- A new look. Every screen got a pass this fall: a dark chart-style map, clearer cards, fewer numbers fighting for attention.
Coming next
- Belly cargo, so the hold under your passengers earns money too.
- Maintenance, and the day a plane breaks down away from base and you have to get it flying again.
- Five challenge scenarios, plus a start in the year 2000.
- An outside beta, soon. A small group of players first.
Right now it's playable and I test it on my own phone every week. Most of the recent work has been making each screen say one clear thing instead of five. Some numbers still don't line up the way they should, and fixing that is a big part of the next build.
I'm aiming for early 2027. No date until it's ready.
